Enchanted Polish - May 2014, June 2014 and July 2014 Swatches & Reviews

Heeeyoooo.

I was in my first online semi-argument with a delightful gal in a CVS couponing Facebook group in which she suggested I stick coupon tearpads up my hindquarters and find a male chicken to entertain myself with (note: paraphrased for the younger readers). The thread was sadly deleted, but it all started when another member of the group called a fellow out for selling coupon tearpads which he very unlikely procured legally. Some members were saying there's nothing that can be done about it and that our having a discussion about it was a waste of time. Long story short, my whole thing was that regardless of HOW wrong what he's doing is, it's still wrong. Then we had the whole "there are murders happening and you're worried about THIS?" comments. I just... I guess I'm lucky to have been raised with a conscience and a clear outline of the difference between right and wrong. I'm not saying that coupon fraud is on the same level as murder, but it's still a crime, you know? Shoplifting something for $2 isn't a major offense, but it's still punishable by law, dawgs.

I mean seriously. Hrrgrgg. The worrrrsssst are comments that are like "you're stupid for spending time arguing about it blah blah blah". Like, what are you LITERALLY doing right now? I just can't even.

So anyway, Enchanted Polish Monthly Mysteries versions May, June and July; editions 2014: I'm slightly underwhelmed.

Enchanted Polish May 2014 June 2014 July 2014 Swatch

May is this pumpkin orange jelly with some linear holo and that sparkle I always talk about that EP has, except in pink. It has a lot more dimension on the nail than my photos show; it almost looks like a glass fleck buuut not. This one had the best formula -- two easy coats and required zero cleanup. I like this one the best out of the three which kind of indicates my underwhelm-ed-ness since I'm pretty "meh" about orange in general.

Shown below is two coats without topcoat.

June is a plum-my purple/berry pink metallic duochrome with linear holo and that pink sparkle action. It reminds me of all those purple-toned multichromes except instead of going all the way to gold, this one stops at pink. The formula wasn't as smoothy-smooth as May but it was still pleasant.

While this one is the most interesting in terms of what's going on in a nail polish, I'm not in love with it like I think a lot of people are. Some people, maybe. A few. I don't know if it's the shade of purple or what, but I was just kind of like, okay, neat. *shrug*

July 2014 is a metallic bright cherry red with linear holo and pink and blue sparkle which very barely shows up on the nail. Pretty basic and uninspired-feeling, which bums me right out since July is my birth month and I was hoping for something blam-tastic. I don't, like, LOVE rubies or anything, but I kind of wish this was a jelly instead of being metallic to emulate July's birthstone more. Deep cherry jelly with red shimmer and linear holo... that's a monthly I would campaign for, yo. I don't hate this polish, but I don't see myself reaching for it anytime soon. The formula on this guy was also pretty suck -- quite goopy compared to what I've become used to with EP formulas. Sigh for days.

The shade picture definitely makes it look a lot more interesting than it actually is, just FYI. If it looked like that IRL I would be all about it.

Aaaanyway, that's that. Five more months of this mystery stuff and I kind of think I might be done with Enchanted Polish. Unless something in the next five months blows me right the heck away, I'd rather spend my dolla-dollas on polishes that I know I'll love.

Daphine Polish - Lullaby & Purple Gradient

Hay.

What in the HELL. We're all sick with another cold. I just can't even.
My child does not sleep if he can't breathe through his nose (which he cannot). Also every time he sneezes mass amounts of snot comes flying out. So much. So many. His head is so tiny... where is it all coming from?

Summer. Summer. Summer.

Oh hey, it's our three yeah anniversary today, my boyfriend and mine. We're celebrating by being sick. We're gonna do something fancy over the weekend doe.

Oh hey again, I won nail the Mother's Day Duo from Daphine Polish in a giveaway at Colorsutraa! I don't win things, like, ever. It was all Rafflecoptery and things!

From Daphine Polish's Etsy Site:

"Lullaby is a glitter topper with light pink, light blue, lavender, violet, and mint matte glitters, iridescent glitters, light pink matte butterflies, and light blue matte hearts, all packed into a multi-colored shimmer base.

...and Goodnight is a darkened royal purple polish with dark grey micro flake and gold shimmer."

I decided to layer Lullaby over a gradient consisting of ...and Goodnight, Essence - Oh My Glitter! & Enchanted Polish - April 2014 because I don't do glitter toppers often so I wanted to make this'n special. I won a thing!!!!! Ayeeyeeyeeyee!!!! and so on.

The first picture was taken in direct sunlight while the second was taken under OttLite, showing two coats of Lullaby.

Spring-y and adorable, right? I had to do quite a bit of fishing for the larger shaped glitter but I'm not complaining! I'm completely happy with my winningsss. This was my first frolic in the meadow that is Daphine Polish aaand I'm certain it won't be my last with how lovely this duo is.

Enchanted Polish - March 2014 and April 2014 Swatches & Reviews

Do you ever start updating your blog and notice that what you're writing is boring and lame and delete it?

We're up to month 4 now with the Enchanted Polish mystery pre-sales and the colors keep getting better, though the three polishes she released for that Mishka collab thing (which I find completely bizarre by the way and I'm a weirdo) are goooorgeous. I would assume that's why March and April were pre-sold together.

    Wayz...

March 2014 is a happy apple green with yellow highlights, that signature light blue microglitter, and completely in. ya. face. linear holo. I had a sneaking suspicion that March would be a green polish (for St. Patrick's day, you know, since February was pink like Valentine's Day and January was dark teal for... uh... seasonal depression) and it's a really good green. It works really well with my skin tone I think and it's not just boring crayon green so I'm pleased. Brandy is pleased. Also the formula is thick in a pleasant and workable way and self-leveling.

Shown below is two coats with topcoat in BEAUTIFUL OHIO SUNLIGHT CUZ IT'S LIKE 68 DEGREES OUT, BISHES.

April 2014 is a soft blue-grey with white highlights (can that even be a thing? I want to say they're like really really really pale pink but I could seriously be crazy) and subtle linear holo. It's a sweet, feminine color. Blue for Autism Awareness Month? I'm glad it's not your typical spring pastel which I absolutely haaaaaaaate. I'm one of those people. Same formula as March 2014 (or, as usual really for EP).

Shown below is three coats with topcoat.

April 2014 has reeeeally grown on me. I love how it kind of looks grey in some light and I superlove how it looks on my nails. I'm still pretty excited to see what future months will bring. I was thinking about this whole thing and how long she's going to do the monthly pre-sale. Is it just going to be this year? Will she go back to regular releases afterwards? I wonder when she'll stop making polish.

Deep thoughts.

Anyway, we're going to the park because, like I said, it's awesome out. It's supposed to snow next week. OHIOOOOOO. Better enjoy the warmth while I can.

Enchanted Polish - February 2014 Swatch & Review

I don't own very many Enchanted Polish as I believe I've mentioned. That being said, February 2014 is my favorite so far. This seems to be Enchanted's entry into the Radiant Orchid division of the, uh, nail polish tournament of the world.

Just. I don't.

There's a pleasant pink shimmer (that I struggle to describe accurately-- it has kind of a peachiness to it but I can't tell if that's just because of the base of the polish or wut) and, of course, linear holo. The formula was thick and highly pigmented and could be a one-coater if you're like, REALLY good at painting nails, which I am not.

Shown below is two coats with a coat of Unforgettable Moments Fast Dry Top Coat because it was $.80 at Big Lots so what could I possibly lose? The top coat, by the way, worked just fine for swatching purposes, but I wouldn't use it for anything I wanted to keep on long term (ha).

The first picture is definitely the most accurate color-wise according to my computer, but there does seem to be some discrepancy between swatches outside of this blog as to what color this polish actually is. I guess it's just one of those shades that can throw a camera for a loop. My index finger of the second picture also shows that pink flash which is more apparent in real life.

"In real life" is a weird phrase.

I definitely prefer February 2014 to January 2014 but I'm not disappointed in either, and I'm intrigued to see what the months ahead will bring.

Enchanted Polish - January 2014 Swatch & Review

I'm still kind of on the fence about Enchanted Polish.

I totally bought into January 2014 during the EP pre-sale being a mystery color. I figured I didn't have too much to lose since 1.) people are still totally ape-poop over EP;  2.) nobody sells EP at or below retail; and 3.) if I didn't love the color, I could sell it for what I paid so, like, everybody wins, right?

January 2014 came in a pretty shiny black box this time with the signature holographic foil-accented logo. If nothing else, EP's branding design is super easy on the eyes.

Upon removal, January 2014 looked like a dark dark gray creme with linear holo. Then I noticed that there was some bright blue super-fine particle action going on (not unlike what's sparkling around in A Little Fishy Told Me). Then I realized that the polish wasn't grey, but a blackened teal.

The formula is pretty dreamy-- just thick enough to avoid cuticle flooding, but it's self-leveling and deeply pigmented so that opacity happens in two easy coats. Plus, it's nice and glossy without topcoat.

It's pretty though, right? I don't know that it's $17 pretty, but I get that EP has grown into kind of a designer indie brand and part of the cost is in the name itself. The reason I'm on the fence about EP is because of the insane hype surrounding it. I wasn't in the, uh, polish game when EP transitioned from lesser-known indie brand to bottles-going-for-twenty-times-their-original-price territory, and I'm curious as to when exactly that happened. Most EPs are genuinely lovely polishes, but I would never dream of spending 10 polishes' worth of money for a single, "htf" bottle. I get why people do it, but there are too many awesome indie brands out there (and my budget is far too limited) for me to ever be that person.

If you bought this polish, are you happy with it? If you didn't, do you wish you had?

My First Enchanted Polish: A Little Fishy Told Me Swatch

So, I was originally like "wtf?" about Enchanted Polish. The hype seemed ridiculous with the third-party price-jacking and the impossible-to-purchase-ality during EP launches. I thought some of the colors looked pretty awesome, but I also knew of other, more accessible polishes that were just as pretty but wouldn't require me to sell of my limbs to be able to afford on eBay since I would never actually be able to buy them on any other site.

Then I swapped for one, and it was kind of like "oh, that's why," although I'm pretty okay with the idea that this is the only EP I might ever own.

A Little Fishy Told Me, like you don't know, was created for one of the most adorable and vivacious little girl I've ever seen in my life, and all the proceeds from the polish's sale were apparently donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The polish is a desaturated mint shade with subtle holo and even more subtle sky-blue microglitter (which in very certain lights looks pink, I SWEAR). It seemed a bit thick but not annoyingly so and was basically opaque in 2 coats. Shown here is 3 coats, topped with SV.

I wish the blue glitter was more prevalent in pictures. It really does add another layer of gorgeousness to an already beautiful polish. I'm really happy I was able to acquire it, and I'm even happier I didn't have to go through a bunch of nonsense to get it.
